Boat storage is available to financial: Full, Rookie, Youth members and others (by determination of the General Committee eg: Honorary members). Boat storage is not available to Social members.
Club and Yard keys are available to financial Full members upon request and deposit paid to the Membership Officer. Keys are not available to Rookie, Youth or Social members.
Boat Storage Terms & Conditions
- Cairn Curran Sailing Club Inc (‘the Club’) agrees to allow the member to store a boat and fittings on the Club premises upon payment of the annual storage fee. Upon cessation of membership, this agreement shall also lapse and the boat shall be removed from the Club immediately, and any Club key held returned.
- Boats will be stored in the designated space only. The Yard Manager will allocate each boat to a space. The allocation of spaces is solely within their discretion and may change at any time. No member is entitled to, or guaranteed, a particular space.
- Availability of boat storage is limited. Priority is given to members who regularly participate in Club racing. If a boat is not frequently used, the Club may move it to a different space without notice to the member.
- Allocation of storage space is not guaranteed. Should the requests for storage exceed the number of available spaces, storage will then be allocated based on priority in accordance with the allocating procedure described below.
- Where there are spaces available, existing storage arrangements will continue on the condition that these conditions have been met.
- The member gives the Club permission to move their boat for any reason. If a boat is locked up, the member will leave a key or code with the Club to allow the Club to move the boat; otherwise, the Club may use any means necessary to remove any locks or chains without notice or compensation.
- Payment of a storage fee entitles the member to occupy only one storage space per fee. All equipment, including foils, trailers, and trolleys must be contained in the space allocated (except that masts may be stored on the mast racks and sails in the sail storage area). Sails in the sail storage area must be clearly labelled with the owner's name and boat name.
- The storage fee is due and is payable 1st September annually, or the time the boat is first stored at the Club.
- If the boat remains at the Club after 30 September in any year, then the member is deemed to have agreed to pay the annual membership and storage fees for the boat for the upcoming year and agrees to be bound by these terms and conditions.
- The storage fee is not refundable and not transferable in the event that the boat is sold or removed from the Club premises before the end of the membership year, unless such refund is approved by the Yard Manager.
- The Club is not liable for any loss or damage to the boat or fittings while stored at the Club, including loss or damage caused or exacerbated while the boat is being moved for any reason. The boat is stored entirely at the owner's own risk and owners are required to maintain appropriate insurance cover. (recommended all boats should have $5,000,000 third party liability insurance as a minimum.)
- Should the storage fee remain unpaid for a period of three months, the Club may sell or otherwise dispose of the boat and fittings and deduct from the proceeds any amount owing to the Club for storage fees and any costs associated with removal, storage and sale of the boat. In accordance with the Victorian Consumer Affairs Policy for Disposal of Medium Value Goods.
- Any trailers or dollys left on club premises, not in the allocated space may be removed and left outside the Club premises, the Club will not be liable for any loss or damage as a result.
- The Club reserves the right to revoke this agreement if the terms and conditions listed above are not being met.
The Club may amend the terms of this agreement from time to time, and the amended terms will become effective once published on the Club website and current storage holders are informed by email.
Holders of boat storage sites are expected to:
- Adhere to CCSC and Goulburn-Murray Water, Rules and By-Laws.
- Ensure that the boat is stored on a dolly or trailer which is moveable/towable
- Maintain boat covers in a serviceable condition and securely fitted.
