IMPULSE TRAINING WEEKEND
Our last Winter Series race was 12 August. At the same time CCSC hosted a Training Weekend for the Vic. Impulse Association and a fleet of 18 joined in the club race. They also spent Sunday training and coaching. A very successful weekend enjoyed by all and they hope to repeat it next year. Again, thank you to all our members and volunteers who helped to make it a success.
2017-2018 SEASON
Our season is scheduled to start on 7 October. The season calendar is on our website have a look and make a note of any date you are on duty. We have a lot planned for this year!
For those hardy souls who want to make an early start and brush off some cobwebs the Bendigo Yacht Club Ice Breaker Regatta is on the 23/24 September.
PRO Duty Training
This is scheduled for Sunday 29 October, and all members are expected to attend. It is important that Duty Crews are aware of any changes in rules, regulations, club sailing instructions, legislation etc. This is also a good chance for new members to find out how our club operates, so, even if you aren’t rostered for duty, please take the opportunity to come and learn.
Our Regatta
This year our Regatta will be held on 18 & 19 November.
We have already had interest from several class associations and it looks like the water level is going to hold and we will have a good year.
To make it a success we need as many members as possible to assist.
Flying Fifteen State Titles Regatta
CCSC is hosting this regatta 24 & 25 March 2018 again it will be all hands on deck to assist.
Other ways to help
We will also appreciate your assistance with our Training Program and Discover Sailing Day.
If you are not confident about sailing but are able to assist with rigging, registration or other admin duties your help will be appreciated, please speak with a Committee member.
Sailability Bendigo
Once again Cairn Curran Sailing Club members are supporting this program.
It is usually only one day per month and requires sailing and non-sailing volunteers.
It is very rewarding experience so if you have some free time and are interested in helping,
please contact Lauren Fawcett at Sports Focus on 5442 3101 or
email at laurenf@sportsfocus.com.au or talk to Mark Teasdale or myself.
Working with Children Checks
As of 1 August 2017 the state government regulations require that anyone who interacts with a child MUST have a Working with Children Check, for our club that includes; Committee members, PRO and Duty crews, Training volunteers, First Aid officers, Canteen staff and others (there are some exemptions but not many).
To ensure that CCSC meets these regulations– and is not liable to penalties for non-compliance – the Committee is asking that all members obtain this check prior to the start of the season.
The check is free for volunteers.
To Check whether you might be exempt or make an application online at: http://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au/ finalise the application at your nearest Australia Post outlet. It is not difficult and doesn’t take long.
Child Safety Standards
Child Safety Standards have also been introduced and the Club has recently approved a Child Safety Policy and a Child Safe Code of Conduct. These will be available on our website shortly and we ask all members to make themselves familiar with these documents.
Club By-Laws
The By-Laws have also been added to the website and we ask members to make themselves familiar with these. In particular By-Law No 3. Camping, amended earlier this year.
We look forward to seeing you out at the clubhouse soon!
